Magazines Are In

The magazines are in and I should be out kind of late tonight starting the delivery process. You should be able to find them soon at your favorite places.

I got your web address out of your magazine. I was in Schatzes in Belleville last night round 11pm and one or your people came in with your magazines. Not knowing, I thought it was full throttle magazines. (No offense to you or your magazine, my mistake). The guy handed me one and I said sorry man I thought it was full throttle. I was then called a "fucking faggot" by your employee. This was heard and witnessed by several regulars at the bar.
I had nothing at all against your magazine, and simply made an honest mistake. I will however be back there today to see the owner along with others who heard what was said, and let him know how his customers were treated.
I had nothing against your magazine until now.

If it was last night in Belleville, then it would have been Jim delivering his magazines. Are you sure that is what he said? It doesn't sound like Jim. I wonder what the regulars at the bar heard.

Gary, I recall seeing you last night. It was me and not one of my employees. Up to there your story was mostly accurate. What I said and maybe the music was too loud, or something for you to hear was "You look like a Full Throttle reader". I have many friends from diverse backgrounds so I rarely if ever use hate speech and I also don't use profanity all that often especially in a baiting situation.

Oh one other thing I ask that if you want to post, you refrain from using profanity and hate words.

I don't think that anyone in this Co. would call a person a F---ing Fagot { sorry} I do not wish to offened anyone, but you are a very rude person. Kat

I agree Kat--don't know of anyone who works with or for the Biking Life who would say something like that. I also gotta say that if Jim said and did all the things that people say on this blog, I don't think he would have been able to stay in business for so long. He's been publishing the Biking Life WAY longer than any of the area's franchise mags have been around. That says a lot about the man and the quality of the magazine. Keep up the good work, Jim.

So that was you? One thing I am not, and thats a liar. I should have responded to you in person that night but the shock of what you said stumped me. Why someone would make something like that up is beyond me. Ive been telling others about what happened and it seems the overwhelming consensus is that your not well liked. I understand your friends here defending you but that fact remains, you did say what I claim. For you to say otherwise brands you as a liar. From what ive been told, you have had to do alot of damage control in the past because of things you have said in the heat of the moment. To the person who claims you would not be in buisness as long as you have, I say this. Something was pointed out to me about your magazine. In almost a year (aside from event fliers) there hasnt been a single new advertiser and most of the ones that are in your magazine are free. I dont even feel the need to go on or come back to this site. From past blogs iver read here this morning im sure ill be bashed. You said what you said.

Seriously dude, if you want people to believe you, you should stay in reality. How could someone stay in business if most of the ads were free and there had been no new ones in almost a year? Looking through the magazine (BTW--I saw the new on online and it's good), I can see the Biking Life has a lot of very loyal advertisers, so it would follow that the mag wouldn't need constant additions of new ones. But no new ones--that's just ridiculous. You say you heard this from someone else, right, so you haven't actually checked it out yourself. Also, your source actually checks the Biking Life that closely--looks at back issues and compares? Really? If that's the case, there's got to be a reason why s/he would care that much? Sounds like a lot of what you are writing is hearsay. You're right though about one thing, I know Jim does a lot for free for charities. The conclusion here is that Jim is nothing like you are trying to say. BTW, no one called you a liar. They have all simply questioned what you have to say. Why wouldn't they? They obviously know Jim and how he acts, while they know nothing about you or your motives.

I for one would like to know, what a full throttle reader looks like. Id say that alone could be taken as an insult. Also, what does a biking life reader look like, or a thunder roads reader? I read all three so do I have a look all to my own? "You look like a full throttle reader" You admit those COULD have been your words. Your magazines ok, but you sure have a habit of stepping in dung

Tami, why do you think saying "You look like a Full Throttle reader" could be taken as an insult? I notice you said "could" be taken as an insult but Jim never said that "COULD" be what he said, he admits it is what he did say. I also read all three magazines each month and have no idea what a Full Throttle, Thunder Roads or Biking Life reader would look like.

I could easily see Jim saying "You look like a Full Throttle reader" as a quick comeback. But what does that mean, a compliment or insult? I guess it depends on how you feel about that magazine.

Quick comebacks and insults are the same thing. Just sayin. Looks like another day in the biking life here to me!

Can't believe this still being posted about. As someone already said, it's only an insult if you see being a FT reader as in some way not as good. Quick comeback or not, it is your perception alone that determines if this is an insult. I don't think being called an FT reader is particularly insulting, just as if someone called me a Sauce reader, I wouldn't take that as an insult. If you wish to support another publication, maybe you should be on their blog (if they have one) saying wonderful things about their magazine. Notice I said their magazine, not about the people involved. In any case, I think you guys are beating a dead horse and need to go take some valium or something to calm down. It's a beautiful day and I, for one, am not going to waste it.

I heard about this from a person who was there and the guy (Gary) who is acting all outraged is not nearly as innocent as he is pretending to be. Maybe he should stop the childish gestures--or at least stop acting all high and mighty about what went on. Leaving out a vital piece of info as to why the Biking Life guy even said anything to him let's you know what kind of guy Gary is.
