Derby Al's Diner Opens on April 1 at 6 AM

Hi folks many of you will be pleased to know that Derby Al's Diner, 2845 Camp Jackson Rd in Cahokia, IL will be once again serving some of the finest home cooked meals around. The doors will open for the first time since one of last summers storms did some major damage to his place. It would have been open much sooner except an insurance company decided to dick him around for a while, oh that was redundant wasn't it. Imagine that an insurance company not wanting to pay what they owe. Derby has long been a fixture in the areas biker scene so please stop in and visit him and enjoy some good food the next time you get a hankering. Oh and if you feel like it tell him you read about it here.

Another Gratifying Example of Loyalty

I never ceased to be amazed at the loyalty our readers and advertisers show us. I was made aware of another example of that today. Pat and Steve are the owners of the Lighthouse Inn which is just across the river from Louisianna, MO a great place to stop while riding up the river from St Louis that has terrific food. In this particular instance Pat had obviously read something I had written in the magazine and brought it to someone's attention. This set in a motion a series of events. I truly appreciate the support Pat and many others like her have given and continue to give us. Next time you stop in there tell her thanks for us.

Lots of places to be

Wow yesterday was awesome espcially the Freestyle MotoCross thing and lots of fun. I also got in a decent amount of riding which is cool sometimes the magazine limits my riding a little. I have to carry a lot of stuff and that makes riding more problematic. Soon I will be leaving for the Blessing of the Bikes in Roxana, IL. This is always the first one of the year and the Outlanders our hosts do a great job. Then I think we'll pick up the videographer and make a quick stop at the bike show at Jack's Iron Horse, this event is going to help support the local Marine JROTC and is very worthwhile and then a stop at the Kick-off Party for the Ride for Arthritis which is being held at Twister's on Wolfrum Rd at Highway 94 in St. Peters, MO. another busy day and hopefully we'll see some of you at all these events. Did you catch the hint about the videographer? That is right if you want to maybe be on The Biking Life look at 2007 DVD attending events where we are greatly enhances your chances.

This Weekend

I just checked weather.com and it looks pretty good today. Here in a minute I am going to try and get my bike started, the last time I rode, it wouldn't restart after I was done. Today I am going to the Scottrade Center to check out some of the Freestyle MotoCross action it should be pretty cool, and then this evening I plan on attending the benefit for FU Bob at the Alton IL, VFW on Alby St. In case you don't know Bob has been attacked by cancer, (I think) and him and his family are suffering, this would be a good time for them to contact the Hartbauer/McBride Foundation for help too, and this event aims to help alleviate some of their pain. Killer will be at TJ's in Pevely for the Emma Hill Benefit this is for a young lady battling leukemia. Whatever you do today I hope you have a great day. See you down the road.

The April Issue

Well I sent off the April issue earlier this morning and now starting next Wednesday you will be able to find your favorite publication at all the usual spots. We did some different things this month, for the first time we featured a sport bike so that we can reach out to our other brethren on two wheels, and sistern but I'm not sure that is a word. There is a little more commercial stuff than usual but there are a lot of things going on. I tried to fit it in as many notices for charities we support as possible and look forward to hearing what you think. Tomorrow Saturday there is Freestyle MotoCross at the Scottrade Center and if you are there you will probably see us. Take care and more later.

The Tax Collectors Write Again

These Tax Collectors are the fine folks, whose salary we pay to sit on overpasses and shoot radar at us. Why do they do this? If they catch one of us breaking the "law" whatever jurisdiction they represent will gain revenue. If they spend their time trying to catch real bad people well then the chances are they don't have real jobs and they won't be able to fill the tax coffers. Why else would 5 cars be dedicated to one small section of road. I'm sure the officers for the most part like this as little as we do, they are just following orders. It wasn't great police work that caught the predator in St Louis it was an alert citizen. Why wasn't this creep and others caught earlier maybe there were too many well meaning law enforcement people stuck on traffic detail. Hey I got no real problem with getting a speeding ticket but make a truer effort to catch the real bad guys first.

Tax collectors

I hate the Tax collectors, no I am not talking about the IRS or the state tax people I am talking about the tax collector that patrol our highways and streets. I just saw the worst speed trap I have ever seen. They truly suck and no I didn't get caught this time.
