The Loss of Another Brother

Cowboy was a dedicated member of BACA and he will be greatly missed. He was married to Bubbles, they have a 6 month old daughter Kaitlyn Maria and three other children from previous marriages.

Cowboy was killed on his bike this past Saturday evening. The Viewing will be on Wednesday 8/27 from 3 to 9 at Zeigenhein . The funeral will be on Thursday at 10:30am at Zeigenhein also.

Cowboy was a dedicated father and husband, he is a patched member of the East Missouri chapter, Cowboy always had a smile and a word of support for all that needed one. Cowboy gave all he had for the children. He will missed so much, but he will never be forgotten.

Please keep Cowboy, Bubbles, their kids, and family in your prayers. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the funeral home as they are starting a trust fund for their daughter Kaitlyn. Zeigenhein Funeral Parlor 4830 Lemay Ferry, St Louis Mo 63129, (314) 352-2600

Gratitude

You will probably read more about this topic in coming months from me, But yesterday I was sitting at Top Shooters chilling after a great ride on the Hartbauer/McBride Poker Run. The turnout was good and a lot of money was raised for the foundation but I couldn't help thinking of all the people this organization has helped over the years. I took that thought a little further and though that what if one friend of each person that had been helped had gone on this ride, it would have rivaled Bikers for Babies instead it was significantly smaller than that. Last year we ran a story about someone helped by the foundation and we are willing to publish more. However the foundation guards peoples anonymity so the individual would have to approach us. I know there are a lot of people out there asking for donations but these folks do so much with no corporate backing and for no money. I know by attending their meetings that no one gets paid and in fact many of the board members donate far more than the items later sell for. To learn more or to make a donation

Well we made it this week to the second Two Wheel Tuesday at No-Jacks in Smithton, IL. I did get drenched the week before trying to get here but this week the weather was awesome. So me and some of the friends of The Biking Life magazine met and rode out here together all sporting our The Biking Life gear and most are pictured here. Tonight is of course Bike Night at Geo's wings on West Main St in Belleville. This week they are going to have a dj on site to entertain the crowd and to change things up some. Also rumor has it they may give away a pair of tickets to Saturday nights Rams game to a lucky person.

Phony Rooster

If you commit to advertising an event and then after two years, your employees cover your debt well you might be a phony rooster.

Oh and of course as stated before any resemblance of Phony Rooster to any person real or fictional, alive or dead is strictly coincidental.

Thanks To All Who Helped Us Celebrate Our 5th Anniversary

Like John said in an earlier post, our anniversary party was a huge success and I thank all who attended and also Johnny, Roger and Hammer collectively known as Floodline and also their opening act Ace in the Sleeve. I would like to take a minute to express my gratitude to a few groups first I thank the Vietnam Vets M/C Missouri and Illinois Chapters for showing their support, the Road Raptors Riding Club from Fairview Heights, IL, a stong contingent from the Missorui March of Dimes, representatives of the Hartbauer/McBride Foundation and there is another group I am missing.

I recognize those groups in particular because we have helped them with promoting events in the past and they get it. They know that if you want an organization to support you you should support them. However it is a little disheartening to see a lack of participation by groups that have no problem asking for support for their causes but don't support other's causes. These groups missed out on a most excellent party and also showed their true colors.

Two Wheel Tuesdays

Hello we are proud to be involved with No-Jacks in Smithton, IL Two Wheel Tuesday Bike Night. The first one is this coming Tuesday August 5th. I would like to see a lot of The Biking Life supporters at this event. So towards that goal the first ten people that meet me at Geo's Wings and More on West Main St. between 6:30 and 7 PM I will give t-shirts to and anyone else that shows up at No-Jacks wearing The Biking Life gear I will buy your first beer. No-Jacks is located on IL 159 on the north side of Smithton, IL. I hope to see you here and thanks for your support.

A Special Thanks to the Ladies at Show-Me's

The 5th Anniversary Biking Life Magazine celebration at Show-Me's in Fairview Heights was a huge success and a great time was had by all that attended. In addition to the free delicious wings, the young ladies at Show-Me's did a tremendous job keeping the drinks and other foods flowing. The place was packed both inside and outside with two excellent bands keeping the crowd entertained on the patio.

Where in the World are Dave and Kelly Perry

Has anyone seen these two road warriors? It has been a while since I saw them at anything and was just wondering.

Not a Political Endorsement!

"I'm told Barack Obama is proud of going to Berlin to hear the cheeers of 100,000 Germans. Well, I'd rather come to Sturgis and hear the noise of 50,000 Harleys!"

Yesterday's Motorcycle Events

Hi-even though there were not a ton of events going on this weekend, yesterday was a busy day. It started at St. Ambrose on Wilson St. on the "Hill" where I attended the funeral service for Judy Yount. There was a great processional ride afterwards that many of Judys friends took part in.

Then it was off to deliver more magazines; oh, and I will have the website updated this evening. I delivered all the way out to Stanton, MO which gave me an opportunity to talk to old friends like Mike Stout at the Union flea market. He has some awesome deals and motorcycle accessories and is always a good dude to talk to. Next time you are out that way check him out.

After that I stopped by the Grand Opening of Tubas at 4036 S Grand Ave in St Louis. There were a lot of his BACA buddies there and he already had bikes on the tables and was wrenching on them. I believe their specialty is going to be quick turnaround and very reasonably priced oil changes. In fact, rumor has it some shops are already complaining about the prices he is charging. Well I think that is the way American business works, you know the whole build a better mousetrap thing.

Then it was off to Gallaghers for the second of five nights of poker runs known as the Moonlight TT. After taking a year off, this fun night time poker run is resurgent. As I wrote the other day, the tunrout wasn't awesome for the first week, but this week we had 10 times as many bikes and everyone looked like they were having a great time so I'll bet it will continue to grow. Next week we start at Crehans on North Belt West in Belleville and sign up is from 6 to 7 PM; last bike in is 11:30. My apologies to the folks last night, we got out of there a little late. I am not sure why, maybe it had soemthing to do with crazy people karaokeing at Ardie and Tinys in Collinsville, Ardies is also pictured above. I also thank Brett Small, Gene, Gary and Sis of S & J Main Street for coming up and riding with us. Oh and we can't forget Patty and her chair dances.

This was probably the biggest nighttime tavern run in St Clair County this year and only promises to continue to grow. We don't do this for The Biking Life, we do not have to have our name on it. We are doing this for fun and for charity. Towards that end, I personally thank Sis Sager and Brett Small for donating back their winnings. That enabled us to raise $150 last night for the Belleville Womens Shelter. I hope to see you at Crehans next week and remember free food at the first stop!

Phony Rooster

If you own a motorcycle shop but people rarely see you ride a motorcycle well you just might be a Phony Rooster.
