Yes from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM this evening the Show-Me's on Lincoln Highway in Fairview Heights will be serving up free wings to all who ride in. I will be here and we hope to see many of you as well heck maybe even Joy will show up.

There are a whole host of rides and opens houses this weekend, and hopefully the weather will cooperate our friends the Blu Knights Chapter XIV is sponsoring a bike show and poker run the bike show is in the 200 block of East Main and the poker run starts at 700 S Illinois at 1:00 PM.

Another Great Ride For Kids Event

Despite a rainy ride, fundraisers turned in $81,194 in donations from more than 225 riders and supporters at the eighth annual St. Louis Ride for Kids, a 15 percent increase over 2008. All of the funds received benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

The top fundraisers were:
Individual: Brian Kissinger, $10,183
Chapter/Club: GWRRA MO-Z, $11,653
Motorcycle Business: Niehaus Cycle Sales, $14,258
Brian Kissinger also won the drawing for a new Honda motorcycle.

Big thanks went to the event's hardworking volunteers, led by Greg Hoette, Norm and Angie Riekena, John and Lorrie Lehmann, and Charlie and Shirley Barnett.

Stuff This Weekend

There many thing going on this weekend. Here is just a sampling. Representatives from The Biking Life will be at the 100 MPH Club Rodeo, and The West side Rally at the Lake of the Ozarks on Saturday and of course the FORR Local 24 Bar Run where Killer will be working one of the stops. Joy and I will be at Seebold Sports, where they sell Victory and Kawaskai motorcycles plus a lot of other fun motorsport vehicles. Kathy will be at Captain Ron's so if you are at the Lake stop in and say hi. Sunday there is a Shriners Bike Show and Poker Run from Gateway to the West Harley Davidson, please take part we will be running the bike show and I know The Biking Life readers have some of the coolest bikes around so please come out support this worthy cause and take part in our bike show.

Another Sad Loss

The Biking Life family mourns the death of Ride for Kids co-founder Mike Traynor. The Ride For Kids events are the main funding source for The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. This is a foundation that was started by and is supported by motorcyclists.

Starting with a single ride in Atlanta in 1984, the Ride For Kids has expanded to 39 events across the country in 2009. Due in a large part to the dedication of Mike and Dianne Traynor, over $50 million has been raised for research and family support for children with brain tumors.

The St Louis area Ride for Kids is this Sunday Sept 20. The ride starts and ends at St Charles Community College. Registration is 8:00 - 9:45 AM with the ride starting at 10:00. Please come out and support the the ride in memory of Mike Traynor. More information may be found on the web site for the foundation. www.pbtfus.org

You know some folks are talking about a customer appreciation night and offering less than Show-Me's on Lincoln Highway in Fairview Heights, IL does for bikers every Wednesday. Yes you can get your bike's pic taken with one of the lovely Show-Me's ladies. There are give aways and oooh yeah they serve up free wings for bikers from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM now that my friends shows customer appreciation. I hope I'll see you there

My Apologies

I want to thank all of you who visit our website on a regular basis. I also wish to apologize we have not over the last couple of months done as good a job at keeping it updated. We are going to try and do better but it has been summer and I'm sure you've seen us out at your events and that is part of the reason we got behind. Please continue to come out and check us out and we'll do a better job of keeping this updated. Thanks again

Eight Years Ago

Eight years ago I was sitting in a friends living room drinking coffee and watching tv. A news flash came on and showed the first of the twin towers engulfed in smoke and fire. Many thought this was a tragic accident. Minutes later they showed another plane flying into the second tower, right then people knew this was no accident, we were under attack. Later we found out that at least two more planes were involved one crashed into the Pentagon and the other crashed in a field in Pennsylvania due to the courageous actions of its passengers. Today I ask that you take a moment out of your busy day and remember the innocent victims in planes and in the towers and the heroes in the police and fire departments that risked and gave their lives in aiding others.

You read right tonight for their bike night between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM the Show-Me's in Fairview Heights, IL will be giving away free wings to anyone who rides in on a motorcycle. Well magazines are getting out and bike nights are going on

Tonight is bike night at No Jacks on Hwy 159 in Smithton, IL. In addition to half price appetizers till 8:00 PM and an awesome drink special. All those who purchase a beverage have a chance to win at least 1,000.

Then those of you who attended the anniversary party know that now Show-Me's in Fairview Heights, IL is now offering free wings on their Wednesday Bike Night from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. After that triple dime time is in effect but free wings means get here early.
