The Biking Life Motorcycle Show

Well our motorcycle show is less than two weeks away. We have the bands lined up, we have vendors, we have the Dixie Chopper OCC built bike on it's way and the Central Illinois Xtreme Riding Team is scheduled. All is going great, if you plan to enter your bike in the show now is the time to do it.

Oh do I mention the Coors Light Rockettes are going to be here and also that the best in show and other categories will be walking away with some cold hard cash in their pockets as well as an opportunity to be featured in The Biking Life magazine.

Oh back to my point, now is the time to get those entries in for a couple of reasons. One is that you can save yourself ten bucks not a huge reason but that could buy one a couple more beers and two you are then guaranteed your place in the show.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the show. I have come to many events over the past four and a half years, I ask you now to support me in this event, oh and bring your friends. To those of you who are patch holders I offer my sincere regrets and understand if you cannot show up. However if you can for one or two days support me I guarantee that next year I will do my best to find a place where all of us who share the brotherhood of the wind can get together.

Thanks
Jim Furey

This has absolutely nothing to do with motorcycles

But the latest edition of the motorcycle magazine we all know and love called The Biking Life is finally on the way to the printer. This was a hellacious month, I had a computer crash which along with the planning for the bike show severely handcuffed me. Not the first time I've been handcuffed but that may fall under the category of too much information.

The bike show is coming along nicely but we would like to see a few more of you be proactive about entering your bikes. This promises to be a fun filled weekend and I am personally looking forward to seeing the Central Illinois Xtreme Stunt Riding Team in action. Along with all the very cool bikes that have already signed up. Early sign up is a good way to save yourself $10 and when you consider that you also get two admittance passes for the event it is quite a deal and who can't use an extra $500 right before Christmas.

I hope all is well with you folks I know I've been slacking a little here on the posting lately but bear with me and you will be reading more soon, I promise. Till later thanks for reading.

Wondering where to ride your motorcycle this weekend.

Well I have some ideas. Tomorrow there is a Shriner's Poker Run that has its sign up at Ardie and Tiny's in Collinsville, IL across Collinsville Rd from Fairmont Park from 10 to noon. There is also Gunner's Ride which will leave the Hideaway located on Municipal Dr in Hillsboro, MO kickstand up at 11 so you want to be there earlier that that. There is also Geo's Wings and More Bikefest on West Main in Belleville, IL, there will be live music, a dj, some vendors and a great time with friends. Then Saturday Night the Motorheads are having their annual Halloween Dance at the Improvement Hall in Swansea, IL this is always big fun and you will fins us here, have a great weekend whatever you choose.

Bikers For Babies Update

If you missed the Biker For Babies Ride this last weekend, you were in a minority of the St Louis motorcycle community. The March of Dimes estimates there were over 7,400 people registered for the ride. The riders along with the sponsors and other supports raised over $300,000 to help fight prematurity. There were motorcycles of every make and style ridden by bikers from almost every club/organization in the area. Be sure and check out the full story in an upcoming issue of The Biking Life magazine.

We want to thank all of of the committee members, helpers, road captains, fund raisers, sponsors and vendors for their efforts in making this the great event it is each year. With a special thanks to fellow Biking Life staffer, Dave Monachella for not only working hard as a committee member but also making it into the top three individual fund raisers with the thousands of dollars that he raised.

I ask your help

Readers and hopefully fans of the motorcycle magazine known as The Biking Life, I ask your help. I received several reports this past weekend of oe of my competitors once again using my stands for his franchise publication. I bought these stands and placed them in various outlets for one reason to hold my motorcycle magazine, The Biking Life. If they want their magazine in a stand I would suggest that they spend some money which is something this individual rarelyt does and buy some. You can tell the ones that belong to me they have labels that say The Biking Life on them.

This is how I need your help if you see other things in these racks would you either let me know or you can do what I am now going to do and start throwing them away. I have warned my competitors that pursuing this path would result in my doing this and now I am done talking they will get thrown away.

It is not really surprising that this guy does this, earlier this year he took something I wrote and without making any changes printed it in his (franchised) publication. He said he didn't know the origins of it, oh yeah I'm sure it wasn't pulled from the website or else he sat there and typed it in. That is the type of integrity displayed by some franchise magazine publishers.

Hello my motorcycle riding friends and those that don't that just like to read this

My apologies to you folks for the web site not being updated for October. I am having some difficulties with this. It all started when my computer unexpectedly crashed last week. We are making progress on getting our systems back up but it is a process not an event. However that didn't stop us from checking out a lot of cool stuff this weekend. The Bike and Badge Ride was once again awesome and I got to see Jody the owner of Jody's Sports Stop on Inn in Highland, IL. Then we also spent part of the day at Jack's Iron Horse for the Rat Ride, this was without a doubt the biggest one ever and we had a great time.
